The Illusion of Absolute Certainty

In a world increasingly polarized by echo chambers and rapid-fire opinions, the concept of being "100% right" is not just an illusion—it is a cognitive trap. Early in my career, I believed that logic and data were the ultimate arbiters of truth. If a system was inefficient, it was inherently wrong. If a person made a suboptimal choice, they lacked understanding.

However, after years of running a business, managing teams, and building a family, I arrived at a profound realization: No one is 100% right, not even me.

This singular insight shifted my entire life philosophy from rigid perfectionism to what I call flexible perseverance (유연한 뚝심).

Flexible Perseverance: The Dual Mandate

Flexible perseverance is a dual mandate.

On one hand, it requires extreme empathy. When you accept that everyone operates from a unique set of variables, traumas, and contexts, you stop judging and start listening. You learn to embrace the differences in how people think, work, and love. This flexibility has allowed me to build better systems for my clients and foster a healthier environment for my family.

On the other hand, it requires unshakeable perseverance regarding your core values. While I am open to changing my methods, I am unyielding in my ethics. When I identify a value I believe is right—such as operating with integrity, protecting my family's time, or delivering undeniable value—I push forward with relentless momentum.

The Reward of Genuine Impact

This balance leads to the most fulfilling moments of my life. The deepest sense of pride—a feeling I can only describe as being proud of myself (기특함)—doesn't come from proving someone wrong or hitting a revenue target. It comes from knowing that my actions, grounded in my core values, have materially improved someone else's life.

Whether it’s designing an automation system that saves a client ten hours a week, or simply holding space for my wife and daughters after a chaotic day, the true reward is positive impact.

Choosing Your Own Compass

We are constantly bombarded by societal trends, the frantic speed of modern technology, and the relentless pressure to conform. Without a strong internal compass, it is remarkably easy to be swept away.

I have chosen to filter the noise. Instead of chasing every trend, I selectively adopt only the tools and ideas that enrich my life and align with my philosophy.

Ultimately, my goal is not to leave behind a legacy of absolute correctness or flawless execution. My ultimate life goal is profoundly simple: when my time is up, I want to be remembered by the people who truly matter as, simply, a good person.
